Flooring and Decking Support Cradles

1250FL-DF Flexi-Level Joist Support Cradles

The Flexi-Level Cradle is a simple and functional Joist Support, with levelling, which can be used to provide a mounting system for floors and decking. The small footprint assists installation in areas with restricted space.

The new Flexi-Level Decking and Flooring Support Cradle System has been especially developed to replace and to improve upon the original Rubbertech DC1 support cradle, which forged a position as an industry leader. The new Flexi-Level cradle is now compliant with the latest building regulations in the UK and Europe.and offers the following advantages:

  • Easier and quicker to use and adjust. The adjuster ring has been redesigned to provide easy handling.
  • The thread has been changed to provide extra strength, prevent cross-threading and to allow faster adjustment.
  • There is now a provision for fixing the cradle to the joist after adjustment, if desired, to allow lifting of the joists to insert interim supports, etc, without losing the cradle position and level.
  • The new cradle now has drainage outlets in all compartments so water cannot collect and become stagnant. Effectively raises beams above the substrate surface, preventing saturation and reducing potential for rotting.
  • A new, clip-in, moulded acoustic base pad, supplied as standard with every cradle, provides cushioning and protection when used on top of membranes – it incorporates water drainage channels.
  • The height range can be increased by using one or more, optional, clip in, 20mm high extensions. The adjustability range of 12mm to 50mm can be increased to 32mm to 70mm with one extender, to 52mm to 90mm with two extenders, etc.
  • The new Flexi-Level support cradle is rated for an average maximum load of 16.3kN/m² (1,662 kgf/m²) using a minimum of 6 supports per square meter.

The adjustable cradles provide a fast and easy solution for levelling and supporting timber joists for flooring and decking on balconies, roof terraces and on any other firm surface. They are designed for use with standard 2" (44 to 48mm) wide timber joists, keeping them above the roof deck or base substrate and, importantly for exterior applications, above the drainage level of the roof or base.

The clip-in moulded base pad helps to spread and soften the impact of the imposed load. This also has acoustic properties and helps to reduce transmitted noise. The support cradles are simple to install and adjust to allow for falls and irregularities.

The support cradle is also designed for use on uneven and out of level floors. The unique design enables the soft sprung feel of a timber floor to be achieved over concrete sub bases. The cradle allows for fast installation by removing the need for levelling screeds and the slow drying times normally associated with cementitious type products.

The void created by the support cradles can provide useful space for insulation and can also be used for service runs of electrics, piping, etc.

The system is ideal for use in fast track building programs or conservatory floors.

This product is also useful for levelling garden sheds with 2" or smaller support beams underneath. An additional advantage is that the shed base is raised above the ground level thus improving ventilation and helping to prevent damp and wood rot.

 INSTALLATION

The Flexi-Level support cradle is designed for use in distributed load installations. We recommend a minimum distribution of 6 to 8 supports per square meter, with joists placed at 400mm to 500mm centres. Load capacity can be increased by using additional supports. When installing heavy, pre-built joist frameworks, take care not to overload any single point of support during initial levelling. This can be avoided by using support wedges or jacks to reduce the weight at corners until the required distribution of supports are in place and adjusted. Typically the cradles are spaced at 400mm intervals along the beams, or closer where high loads are anticipated. For high load systems we recommend the use of our 1836 LP DF or 3560 ML DF pedestal supports which are designed to withstand point loads in excess of 800 kilograms.

StrataRise Pedestal Supports for Decking and Flooring - Multi-Level 35 to 60 mm with extenders up to 500mm or higher.

This is the range for the professional - very easy to install and adjust, the pedestals can support at least 800Kg at maximum extension (with one thread of theadjuster engaged). A range of QuickClick bayonet fitting height extenders make overall height adjustments for sloping sites simple and quick to achieve.

StrataRise Multi-Level 3560 Pedestals are adjustable in height from 35mm to 60mm. The adjustable height can be increased by using one or more of our QuickClick  bayonet fitting, extension pieces to achieve the required height range. The system can be extended to 500mm high, or more as required.

The multi-level pedestals make it easy to achieve perfect flatness of the final floor or paved area. The system is very easy to use and aids quick, precise  and professional installation.

There are three versions available to cover most requirements for decking, flooring or paving. Each support is composed of a threaded head section, with 4 removable tabs (2mm or 4mm in width for paver or tile spacing) or with a fixing flange with screw slot used for attaching the support to a wooden joist for flooring or deck construction.

For Decking / Flooring applications - depending on the size of support beam used - the pedestals can be placed at approx. 1 to 1.2 meter intervals for domestic installations.

An easy to operate adjustment dial makes raising or lowering the head really quick and precise. The large 200mm (8”) base plate provides stable support on most surfaces.

Suitable for laying over membranes and insulating panels

Thanks to the large support area of the pedestal bases the system can be installed on top of waterproofing membranes, rigid insulating panels and onto any solid, compact laying surface.

The circular shape of the base adapts well to the course of the laying surface, even when this is not perfectly regular. The base incorporates holes for the outflow of water and two head-cut lines to be used when laying the supports at perimeter edges or corners.

Available in three versions, this versatile range can be used with any type of self-supporting tile, or paver, and with all types of beam systems up to 3" (75mm) wide for flooring and decking construction.

StrataRise Low Profile Pedestal Supports for Decking and Flooring - 18 to 36 mm.

The Low-Profile 1836 pedestal is a specially designed support for use in areas where low threshold heights are encountered.  Each support is composed of a threaded head section, with 4 removable tabs (2 mm or 4mm in width for paver or tile spacing), or with a fixing flange with screw slot used for attaching the support to a wooden joist for flooring or deck construction.

As standard each Low-Level 1836 pedestal comes complete with one 9mm extender ring which can be fitted if required.

With an adjustable height range from 18mm to 36mm this support is particularly suited for renovation work, floating floors, or other projects with height restrictions.

The maximum height of the pedestals can be increased by inserting additional 9mm extender rings into the base, or use in /images/low-level-1836-tec conjunction with the Multi-Level 3560 version above.
